To enhance the number of teachers and related service providers who are knowledgeable about the impact of combined vision and hearing loss and can implement best practices as they relate to the learning needs of children/youth who are DeafBlind, aged birth to 22. To increase the number of trained and qualified interveners throughout New York State.

  • Strategies for developing relationships and interactions
  • Educational implications of dual sensory loss

Activities

  • Provide awareness training on the impacts of hearing and vision loss
  • Conduct online and in-person training on instructional strategies
  • Coach and mentor educational teams
  • Facilitate network(s) of teachers and related service providers
